Azhi went back to Taiwan so I went halfway with him. Just 30 minutes by boat is the island of Jinmen (also called Kinmen), and it’s a fun little day trip to Taiwan. Jinmen is quite small and unpopulated, but filled with history and beaches and amazing Taiwanese food, so it’s always fun to go there. Pro traveler tip: If you want to go from Xiamen to Taiwan (like Taipei) first go to Jinmen and then fly to Taiwan proper. Plane tickets are a fraction of the price, and even with the ferry trip included you can save a lot of money.
